The parish of Stretton Sugwas is home to Swainshill; a charming, countryside village where Church View resides. The surrounding landscape provides an idyllic backdrop, where fruitful orchards and grazing, pedigree Hereford cattle are just a few of the familiar sights that can be enjoyed as far as the eye can see. Stretching from mid-Wales to the Severn Estuary, the River Wye forms part of the border between England and Wales, and as you branch out to explore the areas neighbouring Church View, the river can act as your tour guide as you follow its path.

If you take a 10-minute drive to east of Church View, the River Wye meanders through the beautiful cathedral city of Hereford. Bursting with traditional architecture, Hereford can be characterised by how the city combines modern-day living with its country, market town history.

Positioned in the heart of Hereford is the Old Market; a contemporary, open-air destination that has been designed to pay tribute to Hereford’s heritage, while providing residents and visitors with a fantastic range of places to spend time, shop and eat out. Hereford is surrounded by a number of small market towns which have their own unique country charm. 25 minutes west of Church View, the River Wye flows past the picturesque market town of Hay-on-Wye.

Known as the ‘town of books,’ Hay-on-Wye is renowned for its abundance of bookshops and hosts the annual ten-day ‘Festival of Literature and Arts.’ There is also an array of outdoor activities for you to immerse yourself in here, before driving a short distance to visit the Brecon Beacons National Park, where you can cycle or don your walking boots to admire the breathtaking scenery which stretches from the western to the eastern Black Mountains.

When travelling further afield, Church View has access links to the motorway network via the M50 and M5, and specific trains from Hereford station allow for a direct commute to London, Birmingham, Cardiff and Manchester.
