An oak framed sunroom

Immerse yourself in an oak sunroom

Oak sunrooms are a joy to behold. A light and airy structure, your sunroom can be used to vastly extend your kitchen, living or dining area. These beautiful spaces provide a sweeping view of your garden and nearby surroundings, ensuring that nature is a focal point for you and your guests. Bask in the sun while maximising the footprint of your home.

What is a sunroom extension?

A sunroom is designed to capture the warmth of the sun and flood your home with its light. You can use your new light and airy space as a hobby hive, social setting or another lounge room. The great thing about sunrooms is that you can take in your scenic surroundings at any time of the year - even in winter.

If you want to make the most of natural light, a south-facing oak frame extension would be ideal. Your extension will be carefully crafted to blend with the rest of your home - we can even create a modern design for an older home, ensuring that your sunroom looks the part.

A sunroom vs a conservatory - finding the right fit

When it comes to choosing the perfect extension for your home, you may be stuck between a sunroom or a conservatory. These extension types do overlap, but there are a number of key differences to consider:

  • Sunrooms are predominantly made of glass and often come with a pitched roof. Framed by rich, warm oak, these spaces really are a luxurious touch, ensuring that every drop of sunlight finds its way into your home.
  • Conservatories are also made from glass but proudly upon a brick plinth. They were traditionally used for growing plants indoors, but are now used for social gatherings or brightening up a space.

With the right roof in place, both extensions will bring the outdoors in, merging your home with the sky.

Design features

We’re here to help bring your oak sunroom to life

Whether you’re looking for extra living space, want to house exotic plants indoors or just want to brighten up your home, your sunroom will be meticulously designed to meet your requirements.

Winter warmth

When you picture your sunroom, you may imagine lounging throughout the long summer days, admiring the golden views of your garden while spending time with friends. But how does a sunroom stay warm without the sun?

Keeping your extension warm and toasty could mean wood burners and underfloor heating, which we can incorporate into your design. But there is another way of taking this one step further.

Your frame can be crafted with face glazing, which aids energy efficiency. If you incorporate this system into your design, the units of your sunroom will be placed on the face of the oak, allowing for that all-important natural movement of the timber. The oak capping and seals also create a more efficient way of maintaining a liveable temperature.
