Kay and Mike are a rare kind of hands-on self builders who are fearless in following their vision. Over three years they rolled their sleeves up to craft every detail of their extraordinary ultra-contemporary upside-down oak frame home. Designed to chase the sun and frame the Black Mountains, their calm and peaceful light-filled vaulted retreat is a true labour of love. 

After months of unsuccessful house hunting, Caroline decided a blank canvas was the best solution. Taking on a custom build plot at Webbs meadow, she has created her perfect single-storey oak frame home…

Paul and Mandy were wooed by the scenery of the seventeen-acre plot which they now call home. Their 418m2 contemporary farmhouse sits proudly among the woodland that surrounds it.

Mark and Sarah Astall didn’t envisage how much life would change when buying a plot from a developer and close friend within hours of viewing the site, but that is what happens when you have a golf course as your neighbour. As a first-time self-builder, Sarah’s passion for skiing and ski chalet interiors then steered the design of their stunning oak framed Lincolnshire home with an alpine ambience.

After searching far and wide for that ‘wow factor’ home or self-build plot, Steve and Susanne realised with great surprise that they had the perfect location…the garden of their family home and so their self-build journey began. This superbly finished hilltop home in Essex makes the most of its fantastic position and views out over the surrounding countryside.

Needing to replace the old boiler room, Paul and Karen made the decision to build an orangery on the back of their home, enabling them to reconfigure their kitchen and create a beautiful dining and seating area.

In place of buying their first home Charlie and Helen decided to step into the exciting world of self-build, building their first home together on their Herefordshire plot.

Adrian and Sara were lucky to find a spacious plot right in the heart of their home village in Hertfordshire. What began as a plan to renovate soon turned into an exciting opportunity to build a new three-storey, five-bedroom home that blends a traditional oak frame with stunning contemporary features, carefully designed for modern life and long-term flexibility.
